Freestanding Bathtub
In the world of bathtubs, there are many different styles to choose from; one of them being the freestanding bathtub. This refers to a bathtub that is finished on all sides and does not require any framing around it or walls against it. A freestanding bathtub can be more like a piece of furniture rather than a built-in fixture. You can place a freestanding tub wherever you like making it a natural focal point, especially if it is in the middle of the room. Freestanding bathtubs also come in a variety of different colors, materials, and styles so finding one to suit your needs will not be a problem.
While a freestanding bathtub requires more space for installation due to the required area around it (at least 1 foot between tub and wall) and the floor mount water fixtures, the open space all around and underneath it will give the illusion of a much bigger bathroom. This open space can also allow you to showcase custom tile work and create large feature walls.
A freestanding tub works best when you have the space for a separate bathtub and walk-in shower. You can have an overhead shower with a freestanding tub but it is not going to be as functional as a traditional built-in shower-tub combo so keep that in mind when you begin to plan your bathroom.
